Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) has finalised necessary arrangements to launch three different projects, including Sialkot Business and Commerce Center, Product Development Center and Sports Industries Development Center costing Rs 900 million to facilitate the local business community.
It is expected that Federal Industries, Production and Special Initiatives Minister, Jahangir Khan Tareen would lay the foundation stone of the project on July 10.
The Sialkot Business and Commerce Center costing Rs 341.67 million is being constructed adjacent to Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). The development work is in top gear on the eight-story building, consisting of display center, convention center, management offices, restaurant and residential rooms and business facilitation center.
The Rs 273.11 million Sports Industries Development Center is being set up in Sialkot enabling the sports goods sector to adopt new technology of mechanised ball, which is threatening to the current hand stitched inflatable soccer ball.
The minister will also be briefed about the Product Development Center, being set up at a cost of Rs 443.4250 million for tracking the sports goods industry on modern lines.
The sports goods sector of Pakistan is enjoying strong linkages with international sports goods brands, which will greatly help in marketing of these products.
