Palestinians need Arabs' support: US scholar

The Palestinians need the Arab world to plead their cause as Israel has successfully made USA and Russia its biggest supporters on the Israel-Palestine conflict, professor Asad Abukhalil from California state University of USA, said while delivering a lecture here on Friday.
The lecture was organised by International Islamic University in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC). He said that Israel has, no doubt, occupied Palestine illegally.
"Being an American I must say that US is absolutely right in her support to Israel but I would point out that there is nothing true except this crucial reality that Israel has won the favour of American government and is now trying hard to hide truth under the dark curtain of hallucination", he said.
According to professor Asad, Palestinians are those people who do not know how to compromise the bitter realities. "These people are extraordinary people having true passion for freedom from the clutches of Israel", he explained. He continued, "George Bush is neglecting the fact that Israel is wrong and has occupied Palestine on false pretext".
He emphasised that the Americans, by and large, don't know much about the world. "Most of them are unaware of the background of Israel-Palestine conflict. That is why they are not exerting any pressure on their government to take necessary step to restore the rights of the poor Palestinians", he told the audience.
The religious prejudice is also there in the hearts of the American people against the Palestinians. After the second world war, there is a lot of sympathy for the jews in Americans", he added.
He said that unless the Muslim world unites against Israel, Palestinians will be unable to meet the goal of independence from Israel. Israel has well-constructed its image in the eyes of the Americans, so, it has become the need of the hour to highlight the issue of Palestine with its background through the American channels again and again.
He pointed out that the countries like England and France are in the favour of Palestinian people. "These countries do want the poor Palestinian people have the right of freedom. Israel has no legal authority to occupy Palestine", he said.
