Central Leaders of Wifaq-ul-Madaris Arabia Pakistan (WMAP) have threatened to launch a country wide protest if the character assassination of religious seminaries and clerics is not stopped forthwith and demanded immediate end of the operation against the Lal- Masjid and Jamia Hafsa.
In a joint statement issued here on Thursday night, Maulana Salimullah Khan, Muhammad Hassan Jan, Dr Abdul Razzaq Sikandar, Qari Hanif Jhulandari, Mufti Muhammad Shafi, Mufti Muhammad Rafi Usmani and former Justice Mufti Taqi Usmani said that every Pakistani was uncertain and disturbed on the severity of Lal Majid and Jamia Hafsa affairs.
They said they fully endorsed the demands that complete Islamic order be enforced in Pakistan and vulgarity, obscenity, nudity be eradicated. They also said that mosques demolished in Islamabad must be reconstructed. They opposed the way of protest adopted by the administration of Jamia Hafsa, saying it was not correct and it should be modified.
They held both the government and the administration of Jamiat Hafsa responsible for today's situation because, they added both neither lend ear to appeals nor they had displayed seriousness. They condemned the attitude of the government, which had launched a character assassination drive in the guise of operation against the Lal Masjid. They demanded immediate stoppage of use of force against the students and teachers of religious seminary.
