An international body entitled 'Business Owners Association'(BOA) based on the resolution of the Islamic Conference of the foreign ministers held in Baku, Azerbaijan in June last year will be launched in November this year.
The BOA would engage the Islamic private sector in the process of panning and execution for economic development projects, and the economic integration between OIC members.
A detailed presentation on BOA was given by Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Assistant Secretary General (marketing) Abdul Mohsen Linjawi to the members of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here on Monday.
According to details available here on Thursday, out of 57 Islamic countries, 14 have already agreed on the formation of BOA. Linjawi is visiting Islamic countries to get a feedback on the project before its launch.
The BOA shall be established in the countries of Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) and attached to the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and shall have the status of the ICCI as an affiliated organisation of the OIC.
The BOA would be a non-profit international organisation with an open membership for business owners and institutions in OIC countries and business owners in the countries of Islamic minorities.
Its mission is represented in contributing to the economic development in the OIC countries and aggregates of Islamic minorities, through formulating an umbrella for business owners and private sectors, encouraging investments and inter-trade development, and coordinating policies, trade and investment structures amongst those countries.
The main objectives of BOA are: encourage trade exchange between member countries, assist member countries to co-ordinate their trade policies in order to realise their common interests, giving a role for business owners and private sector in overcoming obstacles facing inter-OIC trade and investment.
Vitalisation of the ethical values in the commercial transactions, spread awareness of the Islamic economics concept, deepen the spirit of solidarity, increasing the volume of investment, development of tourism, settlement of commercial and industrial conflicts through arbitration.
Development of employment exchange, direct interest to media industry between Muslims and with others, pay attention to studies and researches and encourage inventions, embrace youth of the nation and open self and private work fields in front of them.
To achieve these objectives, the BOA shall execute the following:
-- To encourage communications between business owners in member countries, and organise to conduct ordinary meetings operation with the ICCI.
-- To organise seminars and discussion sessions for business owners in member countries.
-- To contribute to the exchange of information related to trade and investment in the OIC countries.
-- To coordinate and cooperate with the ICCI, as the mother institution for the BOA.
-- To encourage exchange of experiences and opinions for enhancing the volume of inter-trade in OIC and investment and exchange of work forces between OIC countries.
-- To provide member countries with the advisory, related to trade and investment policies, should be adopted, and measures should be applied to enhance the inter-OIC trade and investment.
-- To coordinate with OIC member's governments to overcome obstacles facing free trade, investment, workforce and technology flows between OIC countries.
-- To provide member countries with recommendations in the different areas of the inter-trade in OIC, investments, and workforce.
