Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the government is making all out efforts to provide maximum relief and early rehabilitation of rain and flood affected people of Balochistan and Sindh.
The government would not take sigh of relief until the rehabilitation of victims, he said this while addressing flood-affected people at a relief camp in Wahi Pandhi of Taluka Johi here on Thursday.
Accompanied by the PML-Q Secretary General, Senator Mushahid Hussain, Senior Vice President Mian Manzoor Hussain Watto and Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Shujaat Hussain distributed relief goods among the victims and assured that all out efforts would be made for their early rehabilitation.
He expressed his deep shock and sorrow on the losses of precious lives and damages to properties and said such devastation in both the provinces had caused shock to the entire nation.
He said that there was no discrimination on the basis of languages and all people living in the country were Pakistanis and had the tradition to extend full support, co-operation and assistance to their brothers in calamity. Those, who are trying to divide the Pakistanis on the basis of languages could not be succeeded in their goals, he said.
He said that central leadership of the party had personally reviewed the losses, caused by rains and flood in the area and making all out efforts to provide maximum relief to shelterless people. He assured that he would request President General Pervez Musharraf to announce relief fund for the rehabilitation of the flood victims of Balochistan and Sindh provinces.
The provision of all basic facilities to the people of remote areas of the country was the manifesto of PML (Q) and the party would continue its struggle till the achievement of the task, he vowed.
The PML (Q) President highly praised the services of Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi and District Nazim Dadu Karim Ali Jatoi for round the clock supervising the rescue and relief work in the affected areas. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, on the occasion announced a grant of Rs 0.1 million for Johi Press Club for purchase of Computer and Fax Machine.
Mushahid Hussain Syed while speaking on the occasion also expressed his deep grief and shock over the losses of lives and properties as a result of flood and rains in the area and assured that all out efforts would be made for early rehabilitation of flood and rain victims. He said the entire nation was united and ready to extend full support and co-operation for provision of maximum relief to the victims.
Commenting on the efforts of Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi and his family members in supervising the rescue and relief work, Mushahid Hussain said that he had deep relations with Jatoi family and their services for the welfare of the masses were commendable.
PML (Q) Senior Vice President Mian Manzoor Hussain Watto in his address said the visit of the central leadership of the party in the affected areas was to express unity with the victims who suffered colossal losses during recent flood and rains.
He said that being the resident of rural area, he fully aware of the problems of the people of rural parts and assured that maximum funds would be granted for early relief and rehabilitation of the victims.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi in his address said that welfare of the poor masses was the mission of PML (Q) and the party leadership was making all out efforts for early relief and rehabilitation of rain and flood affected people of the area.
He said the party workers had engaged themselves in the area for providing rescue and relief to the affected people of Dadu. He said that he was personally monitoring the rescue and relief work and assured that maximum relief would be provided to the victims.
The minister said President General Pervez Musharraf would be requested to personally visit the affected areas of the district and announce a fund for their relief and rehabilitation.
He advised the affected people to submit applications to their respective union council nazim about the losses of lives of their family members and damages to the property so that the compensation grant could be provided to them at the earliest in transparent manner.
Dadu District Nazim Karim Ali Jatoi in his welcome address highlighted the havoc, which played by heavy rains and flood in the district particularly in Johi, Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah talukas.
He thanked the central PML (Q) leadership for visiting the affected areas to personally review the losses caused by rains and flood in the area. Taluka Nazim Johi Dr Band Ali Leghari also spoke on the occasion and informed the losses, suffered by the people of Taluka Johi as a result of heavy rains and flood. Among others, MPA Ahsan Ali Jatoi, MPA Sadaqat Jatoi and MPA Dr Sajeela Leghari were also present on the occasion.
Later, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed and Mian Manzoor Hussain Watto along with Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi also visited the affected areas of Khanpur and Flood Protective Bund of Faridabad.
