Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (Sessi) is to spend 73 percent of its budget (Rs 772.9 million) to provide medical facilities to 65,314 registered workers and their dependents during fiscal year 2007-08. In new budget, Rs 130.5 million are allocated to buy medicines.
The medicines will be bought from registered and international pharmaceutical companies. Medical centres have been given priority this year which includes installation of elevator in Valika hospital and construction of admin block in Kotri hospital whereas Kidney Centre built for labour will also be functional this year. Sessi provided modern instruments and built new wards in every medical centre of social security last year.
To provide better medical facilities to Nooriabad labours, a ward of 20 beds, X-ray laboratory and labour room have been built with an amount of Rs 6 lac and Rs 40 thousand. Sessi has also built a ward of 10 beds and a labour room in Kotri hospital with Rs 28 lac, said a press release.
