A large number of students of Jamia Ashrafia on Tuesday held a demonstration here at Muslim Town More to protest operation of law-enforcing agencies against Jamia Hafsa at Islamabad.
The protesting students gathered in front of Jamia Ashrafia at about 7pm, and blocked the Ferozepur road, which badly disturbed the smooth flow of traffic causing severe hardships to public. The protestors also burnt spare tyres on the road. They also chanted slogans against the police operation at Jamia Hafsa.
The protesting students asked the government to immediately stop the operation at Jamia Hafsa and hold talks with the Lal Masjid administration to resolve the issue in an amicable way. Heavy contingent of police was deployed at the spot. Later, due to intervention of police high ups, protesting students went back to the Jamia and traffic was restored.
