Appropriate measures had been taken to cope with the flood situation in the province, said Punjab Minister for Food Hussain Jahanian Gardezi on Monday. Talking to APP, he said that in view of the floods.
Arising out of cyclone and torrential rains in Sindh and Balochistan and threat of heavy rains and floods in Punjab, Relief and Crisis Management Centres had been activated at the district and tehsil level across the province.
He said the provincial government had issued directions to the district coordination officers (DCOs) and district nazims to take requisite steps to withstand possible floods in their respective areas.
Hussain Jahanian said all departments concerned were ready to tackle the flood situation and flood control rooms had been established at the district and tehsil level. Rescue and relief teams were also ready to rush to the affected areas, he added.
The provincial minister disclosed that on the instructions of Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi relief equipment, boats, lifejackets, tents, medicines and edibles had already reached the prospective sites of floods all over the province.
