On the orders of Punjab Ombudsman Abdur Rashid Khan, District Accounts Officer, Vehari has made payment of pension dues, amounting to Rs 97,051, along with family pension of Rs 6,342, to a widow.
Complainant Khalil Ahmad s/o Rashid Ahmad, retired forest ranger, r/o Mohammadi Mohallah, Galli No 2, Colony Road, Mailsi, District Vehari, lodged a complaint in Multan regional office of the Ombudsman Punjab, stating that he had retired from government service on 31.7.2004, but had not been paid pension/commutation and group insurance although the case had been sent by his department to accountant general Punjab.
The complainant requested Mohtasib Secretariat that AG Punjab, Lahore be directed for early payment. In its departmental response, Director Budget & Accounts, Government of the Punjab, Forestry, Fisheries and Wild Life Departments, Lahore and AG, Punjab, Lahore, pointed out that that (pension pay order had been issued and sent to district accounts officer, Vehari.
In the meantime the complainant died. In her rejoinder, the widow stated that the dues had not been paid. In his decision, Punjab Ombudsman Abdur Rashid Khan, directed that case be vigorously pursued with the concerned agencies.
In its compliance report, district accounts officer, Vehari has now informed the Mohtasib Secretariat that the pension pay order was issued in favour of the widow and complainant had received pension, amounting to Rs 97,051 along with family pension of Rs 6,342. Since the complainant had died within 5 years of his retirement, the widow was advised to file claim through the department.
