Budget 2007-08 42 percent urban population dissatisfied

Almost 42 percent of Pakistan's urban population dissatisfied with the 2007-08 fiscal budget recently announced by the government. In a survey conducted by the Gallup Pakistan it has revealed that majority 42 percent of Pakistan's urban population expressed 'dissatisfaction' with the new budget, on the contrary.
Only 14 percent of urban respondents said that they were 'satisfied' with the new budget whereas 33 percent of the urbanites claimed that they were 'neither satisfied nor dissatisfied'. Further 11 percent of the urbanities either gave no comment or said they did not know about the issue.
They were also asked to give their views on how the current budget would effect their cost of living in terms of the change in the prices of consumer goods. In response to this, 57 percent of the individuals claimed that they believed that the cost of consumer goods will increase, 6 percent of the respondents believed that there will be a reduction in the cost of consumer goods.
This survey by Gallup Pakistan, an affiliate of Gallup International was conducted on a sample of over 1,100 nation-wide urban respondents across all four provinces of Pakistan. Sample was statistically selected across all ages, income groups and educational levels.
