The Traffic Police in Rawalpindi and other parts of the province will start implementation of new ticketing system from July 1 (Sunday). The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, Rawalpindi Sabir Ahmed told reporters on Saturday.
The provincial government has promulgated the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 2007 changing the rates of the fines. Moreover four more fine codes, ie, use of cellphone, driving without seat belt, wrong parking and use of revolving lights, Sabir Ahmed said.
He said that the driver who use revolving light would be awarded six-month imprisonment or Rs 1000 fine or both. For over-speeding, motorcyclists will be fined Rs 200, private vehicle Rs 500 and public transport vehicle Rs 750, while on overloading Rs 500 for private and Rs 1000 for public transport vehicle.
He said that on violation of traffic signal Rs 200 fine would be imposed on motorcyclists while Rs 500 and Rs 1000 on private and public vehicle drivers respectively. A fine of Rs 500 would be imposed for overloading, he added.
For insufficient light, motorcyclists would be fined Rs 200, private vehicle Rs 500 and public transport vehicle Rs 750, while the same would be the rate of fine on driving from wrong side, SSP said adding that the fine on use of tinted glasses would be Rs 500.
Rupees 200 fine on violation of stop line and zebra crossing for motorcyclists while private and public transport vehicle drivers would be fined Rs 300 and Rs 500 respectively. For driving in prohibited area a fine of Rs 200 to be imposed for motorcyclists, Rs 300 for private and Rs 750 public vehicle drivers.
The SSP said that vehicles causing hurdle to traffic would be fined with Rs 200 (motorcycle), Rs 500 (private vehicle) and Rs 1000 (public vehicle). For driving carelessly or dangerously, a fine of Rs 300 for motorcycle, Rs 500 for private vehicle and Rs 1000 for public vehicle would be charged. He said that on driving without license, the fine for motorcycle driver is Rs 300, Rs 500 for private vehicle and Rs 1000 for public vehicle drivers.
He said that on use of pressure horn, fine for motorcyclists is Rs 200, for private vehicle Rs 200 and for public vehicle drivers Rs 750 respectively. Rupees 200, Rs 300 and Rs 750 would be charged for smoke emission motorcycle, private vehicle and public vehicle respectively, he said.
