The computerisation of police record across the country would be completed by June 2008, while the record of police headquarters in four provinces has been computerised in the first phase, Director General National Police Bureau Dr Shoaib Suddle said here on Saturday.
He said the government has allocated an amount of Rs 305 million under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2007-08 for the project which would cost a total over billion rupees. All police stations across the country would be computerised and connected through a single network with the National Police Bureau, he said adding currently there are 1,280 police stations in Pakistan.
The computerisation process is underway in different districts and record, that includes database of absconders and proclaimed offenders, criminals, officials record, FIRs and others, of many police stations have also been completed, he said.
Under the project, Suddle said a separate amount of Rs 1,443.695 million will be spent for establishment of nation-wide integrated trunk radio system for police at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
