The Grain Market Police Sahiwal have registered a case under Police Order 2002 on the direction of the Supreme Court against five officials of elite force and the traffic police. The officials were indicted for torturing a truck driver for blocking a road.
On April 3 this year the traffic police and the elite force officials subjected driver Muhammad Hayat to physical violence. Later he was locked up. Fellow drivers blocked the road traffic protesting the police excess.
Muhammad Yaseen r/o Chak 79/5-R informed the Supreme Court in writing on which the Supreme Court ordered an inquiry which established the charges. The case is registered against Head Constable Muhammad Ramzan, traffic Constable Muhammad Awais, Asim Munir, Muhammad Ashraf and elite force official Muhammad Arshad under Police Order 2002. No arrest has been reported.
