The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) would propose no new developments scheme or project in its 'surplus' budget for fiscal year 2007-08. Official sources in the city government told Business Recorder here on Thursday that CDGK in the new budget would focus on the completion of all ongoing developmental projects.
CDGK would accelerate the pace of work on all uplift projects, which are under-completion across the metropolis, rather than launchiing new schemes, sources said The non-development expenditure would be kept below 10 percent rather than 15 percent in the new budget to avoid underfunding in the development projects, sources said.
Sources, however, did not rule out the possibility of new schemes under the Rs 29 billion Tameer-e-Karachi project, which is likely to be completed this year. The city government administration had scheduled June 27, 2007 (Wednesday) for presenting the budget 2007-08 in the city council but the date was extended due to an uncertain condition of weather, ongoing monsoon rains and the resultant engagements of 178 union councils' Nazims in relief work in their respective areas.
They said that on June 30, 2007 (Saturday) City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal would present a surplus budget for 2007-08 in the City Council Secretariat located at M.A Jinnah Road.
