Telenor has jumped to the No 5 spot on BusinessWeek's 2007 global ranking of the top 100 performers in the information technology industry. According to a press release issued here on Thursday, Telenor left behind other well-known players such as Apple (No 6) AT&T (No 7) and Microsoft (No 9).
It also outdated other major players such as BT Group (No 13), Nokia (No 17) and Google (No 19). "Last year, BusinessWeek ranked Telenor at No 25 on the same list. So Telenor's moving to fifth position in the 2007 survey of global information technology (IT) companies is a strong indicator of the company's business success and technological innovation.
In the local market, Telenor Pakistan is leading on many fronts as well," Telenor Pakistan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President Tore Johnson said in a statement.
