Telecommuni-cation links at corporate offices in Islamabad were suspended on Thursday morning after the construction activity damaged underground supply cables. Telephones were muted and internet services got disconnnected when cables were tore apart by digging machines to expand a road on the main business hub of the city, Blue Area.
Commercial activities at several offices, including Pakistan International Airline (PIA) main booking facility remained at halt for the whole day. No quick fix was done by the Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL). Repair work yet to be started.
The worse victims were many private television channels and a few newspapers located in the troubled zone. They remained ignorant of the outside world. In the night too, offices of call centers will not be able to be online with their customers across the world especially in the United States.
