Reports of heavy rains in Lahore have received on Thursday, although it only lasted for a short span of time, which also increased humidity level. According to the meteorological department Lahore, the city received 2mm of rain in the afternoon and more rain with thunderstorm is expected in the next 24 hours.
The maximum temperature was recorded 38 Degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 27 Degree Celsius. Humidity level in the evening was 52 percent.
Other parts of the country that received rain including, Saidusharif 56 mm, Peshawar (airport) 48 mm, Malam Jabba 43 mm, Rawalakot and Islamabad (airport) 37 mm each, Peshawar (city) 35 mm, Kotli 28 mm, Cherat and Lasbella 27 mm each, Parachinar 25 mm, Dir 22 mm, Islamabad (Zero Point) 20 mm, Dalbandin 19 mm, Jhelum 18 mm, Muzaffarabad 17 mm, Quetta (airport) 11 mm, Banu 10 mm, Murree and Kohat each, Hunza 6 mm, Balakot 5 mm, Chitral, Drosh and Punjgur 4 mm each, Kakul and Chilas 3 mm each, Sialkot 1 mm, Noor Pur Thal, Quetta (city), Gilgit, Skardu, Mandi Bahuddin, Astore, Karachi (airport) and Badin trace.
They said that the rain was caused by a fresh monsoon depression that had developed in north-west Bay of Bengal and a fresh westerly wave was passing over north of NWFP and under its influence a low pressure area was developed over north Punjab, adjoining NWFP. Moreover, monsoon current from Arabian Sea is reaching Punjab up to 5,000 feet.
The Met office has forecast heavy rainfall in Malakand division, over the upper catchments of all the major rivers and north Punjab including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions. Scattered light to moderate rainfall is also expected over north-east Balochistan and Makran coast.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division Lahore, all major rivers are flowing below low flood level but Indus tributaries in NWFP have high flood level. The water level in Tarbela is measured at 1443.43 feet and in Mangla Dam 1183.10 feet.
