The water level at Hub Dam has reached up to 325.5 feet due to ongoing spell of torrential rains, while concerned officials said there was no danger of flood in adjacent localities. When the heavy downpour started lashing the metropolis, the level of water in the dam was 311.2ft, which rose to 325.5ft. It must be mentioned that maximum level of Hub dam is 339ft.
It is expected the dam would be filled during the current rainy season. Chief Engineer Karachi Water & Sewerage Board Saleem Muhammad Bizenjo told PPI that there would be danger if the water reaches the dam's maximum level of 325-feet.
There are spillways with the dam that would automatically open for outflow of extra water to avoid flood in the adjacent localities of the dam, he maintained. He informed that present water storage would be adequate to cater needs of Karachi for one year. He hoped that there would no water scarcity in the city after current heavy rains.
