Provincial metropolis received scattered rain that further worsens the humid weather on Tuesday, making the lives of the locals miserable. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department Lahore, the city received 2-mm of rain for a short span, although heavy black clouds overshadowing the city gave a sign of heavy rain.
After the rain humidity increased to 72 percent, while maximum temperature recorded was 35 Celsius degrees and the minimum temperature was 26.5 Celsius degrees. For the next 24 hours, they predicted scattered thunderstorm in southern Sindh, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions.
Other parts of the country also received rain, including Mianwali 55 mm, Pasni 42 mm, Turbat 45 mm, D.I Khan 30 mm, Panjgour 26 mm, Gawadar 24 mm, Kakul and Muzaffarabad 18 mm each, Karachi 17 mm, Murree and Badin 15 mm, Chorr 14 mm, Lasbella 12 mm and Sargodha 10 mm.
According to the Meteorological Department forecast widespread heavy to very heavy falls with strong winds are expected over coastal Balochistan (Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni, Ormara) and flesh floods are also expected in Nullahs and rivers of Balochistan. Moreover, scattered rain and thunderstorm are also expected in coastal areas of Sindh alongwith Kashmir, northern and north-eastern Punjab, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Rawalpindi divisions while mainly dry weather is expected in Bahawalpur division.
"Tuesday's well marked monsoon low over Arabian Sea, which was developed into tropical cyclone (Yemyin), is heading towards Balochistan coast. Moist air current from Arabian Sea is reaching Punjab up to 7000 feet. Scattered rains are also expected over upper catchments of River Indus," they added.
According to the flood forecasting division, all the major rivers are flowing below low flood level but Indus tributaries in NWFP are in very high flood. The water level in Tarbela Dam was recorded at 1432.15 feet and in Mangla Dam 1181.30 feet.
