The federal cabinet, which is scheduled to meet on Wednesday (today) with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in the chair, is likely to approve Gwadar Port Authority''s revised bill regarding new corporate structure of the port, official sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday.
The sources said the cabinet considered a summary of Ports and Shipping Ministry on December 16, 2005 and approved a draft bill along with its addendum for the establishment of GPA subject to a review by PM Senior Advisor on Law and Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, the policy board in its meeting on January 23, 2007 approved the recommendations made in the Master Plan and business strategy of Gwadar Port for a new corporate structure of the port envisioning a lean organisation. The policy board directed the GPA draft bill be reviewed by incorporating necessary changes for submission to the cabinet, the sources continued.
The sources said that the revised bill was circulated to the concerned Ministries and Divisions and Balochistan government, along with a draft summary for the cabinet. They said that as comments of all the concerned Ministries and Divisions have been received, a summary has been submitted to the cabinet for approval of the revised bill.
