It was a fashion to talk about load-shedding in previous years, but since the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) had been privatised, the fashion has changed into havoc and disrupted the life of 150 million people of Karachi. The power supply remains suspended for a number of times. This creates a lot of problems for the people.
The situation in the city during night remains grim due to power suspension for two hours and more. It remains suspended for more than two hours in the morning too.
And people are being killed by heatwave throughout the country. I don't know why effective steps have not been taken. May be, some higher authorities or KESC officials can explain the reality.
I got to know by your newspaper that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz wanted to take some rapid action in this regard and called a high level meeting with KESC management and the Ministry of Power. Though, it's a good step but more like 'Bari Daer Kerdi Mehrbaan Nay Aatay Aatay' .
Here, we need to know that who would be responsible for the people who lost their lives in this disastrous failure of the electricity not only in Karachi but also throughout the country.
The Prime Minister should take some notice about the deafness of the KESC authorities and should give some relief to the countrymen. After privatisation there is not even a bit of improvement in KESC but I think things have gone worse.
