ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Belarus Andrei G. Ermolovich called on Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain at his office here Wednesday.
Welcoming the ambassador, Rana Tanveer said that Belarus was an important country and "we attach high importance to our bilateral relations with it."
He highlighted the need to enhance collaboration in the field of defence production / procurement between Pakistan and Belarus.
They discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly cooperation in defence production. They also expressed interest to explore the areas of defence cooperation.
Rana Tanveer desired that Pakistan and Belarus cooperation in defence would provide a healthy framework for both countries. There existed a potential for Pakistan and Belarus to collaborate in the fields of defence, he added.
The minister recalled his visit to Minsk in 2014, terming it productive and said the high level visits between the two countries had extensively contributed to strengthening of bilateral relations.
He said that Pakistan and Belarus shared a cordial history of bilateral relations in economy, trade and defence. Both countries were maintaining agreements on trade, economic cooperation and investment protection, he added.
