The Collectorate of Sales Tax & Federal Excise, Lahore, has made special arrangements for deposit of principal amount of sales tax and federal excise duty under the amnesty scheme. According an announcement of the Collectorate, the offices of the Collectorate will also remain open on Sunday June 24, 2007.
Taxpayers, who have to pay longstanding sales tax and federal excise dues, are being advised to avail the amnesty scheme announced by the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) vide SRO 463(I)/2007, dated 9th June, 2007, the announcement added.
Under the scheme the whole amount of default surcharge and penalties payable by a person have been exempted against whom an amount of sales tax is outstanding on account of any audit observation, audit report, show-cause notice or any adjudication order, or who has failed to pay any amount of sales tax or claimed inadmissible input tax adjustment or refund due to any reason other than tax fraud, subject to the condition that the outstanding principal amount of sales tax is paid by the June 30, 2007.
