The Towel Manufacturer Association (TMA) has demanded of the government for resolution of the several issues hampering the growth of this sector and increases the cost of production. TMA Chairman M. Muzzammil Hussain called upon the government to consider TMA proposals sent to it in order to boost up the growth of industrial production.
He proposed that the government should ease the air fare duty charges to avoid additional financial burden on the local exporters during their business tours to various countries and regions.
The 5 percent surcharge is needed withdrawal on non-fund services provided by banking companies and non-banking companies to augment the export ratio and ensure growth of the industries, adding that continuation of this imposition would damage the industrial growth in terms of production and export. Pertaining to adjustable input tax and insertion of section 8B, he said it was a harsh owing to this provision a huge amount could stuck up with the Central Board of Revenue could result in the financial crisis to industrialists.
Muzzammil said that money borrowing from banks had gone up, which amounted to closure of business, decline in export, and unemployment. About the cottage industry problems of electricity meters installation, he pointed out the KESC did now allow the usage of one-meter fixation by more than one premises, demanding of the government to make amendment to rules to allow the cottage industry to use the single electricity meter by many units.
Refund of payments within 45 days could cause serious financial problems to exporters besides manufacturers, he said. He said these rules needed to be simplified. The SRO with audit provision may be restored to help the CBR achieve its goals, he added.
