District Nazim Sukkur, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said women, if properly trained and educated, could play enormous role in the socio-economic uplift of the country. In a meeting with the women of APWA club Sukkur at his office on Saturday, Nasir Hussain Shah said Pakistan is a male-dominated society.
He said a long and grassroot efforts were needed to change the perception of the common people. He said"Sukkur city is the one of the liberal and progressive people and the present government is trying to promote progressiveness and liberalism."
He said women would be given more scholarships for higher education. "We should work together to change the common perception of the society that a female should not be educated. We collectively have to develop a culture where females should have the right to speak about their interests and needs," he added. The Nazim said the district government had allocated a huge amount for provision of education.
