Supreme Court summons AG Punjab, IG Islamabad and IO in Kafila's case
The Supreme Court has taken suo motu action on Kafila Siddiqui's death and directed Advocate General Punjab and Inspector General Police, Islamabad, to appear before the Court on June 29.
In his orders issued here on Saturday, Justice Javed Iqbal said: "In view of the anxiety of the Canadian government, especially Member Parliament namely Brown- Wilfert, the Canadian Press and the apprehension of the family of deceased namely Kafila Siddiqui that investigation may not be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, I hereby direct that AG Punjab, IGP Islamabad and IO shall remain present on the date to be fixed by the office along with complete record of the case.
"It has been further observed with grave concern that how ad-interim bail was granted to the then-state minister namely Shahid Jamil and why only Driver Zulfiqar Awan and Cook Allah Yar were arrested. A copy of the bail order be produced."
