HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks rose on Wednesday, tracking Wall Street's rally and broad gains across Asia following a jump in US consumer confidence that reinforced optimism about the world's top economy.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.19 percent, or 46.18 points, to end at 24,392.05.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.36 percent, or 11.64 points, to 3,241.31. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, declined 0.73 percent, or 14.83 points, to 2,019.39.
