Head of the delegation of Singapore Tourism Board, Ms Elaine Lim Gek Lin has said that Singapore Tourism Board health wing has made a plan to hold seminars on health care as well as send experts team of doctors to help people in Pakistan in health sector.
Addressing members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Thursday, she said that Singapore has well developed 17 public sector and 7 private hospitals providing best quality health care facilities.
She said that the purpose of visit is to develop health tourism between Pakistan and Singapore. Under proposed programme her organisation would made members in Pakistan including chambers, clubs, hospitals and other organisations. All their members on recommendation of their respective organisations will get discount on treatment in Singapore.
Beside this Singapore Tourism Board Health Wing also hold seminars on health care in Pakistan as well as Singapore medical specialties will visit Pakistan and provide treatment as well as assist Pakistan doctors in treating ailments.
Regarding cost of treatment in Singapore, she said that heart surgery cost around 25,000 US dollars in America whereas the same surgery in Singapore cost around 20,000 Singapore dollars. This is almost more then fifty percent less then treatment is USA. She further said that around 400,000 foreigners visit Singapore every year for treatment. Majority of them from South Asian countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Jeslyn Tan said that health tourism is not only for health care but also encourage people to visit Singapore and see the country. She offered to hold a seminar on health care at KCCI in the month of October this year. She invited KCCI to send a delegation to see the existing quality of health care facilities in Singapore.
Welcoming the guests, Acting President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki has urged Singapore businessmen and companies to avail existing investment opportunities in Pakistan, preferably in joint ventures in almost all the sectors, including tourism, health and communication sector.
