Senators for Arab world's support on Kashmir

Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee Sayed Mushahid Husain reminisced about the epic and heroic struggle of the Algerians to win independence from the French five decades ago and said then Pakistan was their partner in the campaign and its memory still echoes in the minds of Pakistani people.
The Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs was speaking to the members of the Algerian Parliamentary delegation and its leader Abdelkader Bensalah, during a lunch he hosted for the delegation at the Parliament House on Wednesday.
Farhat Abbas, hero of the Algerian independence and NLF (National Liberation Front) of Algeria were household names in Pakistan, during the struggle late President Boumedine would travel on Pakistani passport because this country gave unqualified support to Algeria.
President Boumedine also came to Pakistan in 1974 to attend the historic Islamic Summit in Lahore. However, the Senator had to rush to the President's House for a meeting and handed over the charge of the lunch to Senator, Nisar Ahmed Memon.
The latter (Memon) referred to the two Muslim countries (Algeria and Pakistan) that had had many things in common, including the colonial past and now creating a glorious future for their peoples.
The two brotherly countries were eager to learn from each other's experiences. Both desired negotiated settlement of disputes including Jammu & Kashmir problem to promote peace and harmony in the world.
Pakistan was engaged in a composite dialogue process with India for that purpose, said Nisar Memon. He reminded his guests that Pakistan had refused to send troops to Iraq in reaffirmation of its independent foreign policy and commitment to the causes of Ummah.
President of Algerian National Senate Abdelkader Bensalah expressed his country's high esteem for Pakistan because his people still cherish the memory of this country's support for Algerian freedom struggle. He added our people would 'not forget those who stood by us in difficult times'. Baker said the visit of the Algerian delegation would further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
He repeated that Algeria, as well as the Arab world desired early settlement of disputes like Palestine and Kashmir in a just and peaceful manner. The Algerian National Senate affirmed his country's support for all freedom struggles being waged for acceptance of the right of self-determination. About Iraq, he said Algeria supported its political independence and territorial integrity.
The two leaders urged that the OIC forum should be reactivated. 'OIC must have a strong and independent voice to project Islam and the Muslims in the world dispelling all misconception.
It was pointed out by a number of Senators that Pakistan's support for Palestine and Arab causes has always been very strong and consistent, and urged all Muslim countries, including the Arab world to extend full support for Kashmiris' right of self-determination.
Senators Wasim Sajjad, Jan Mohammad Jamali, Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Talha Mahmood, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Abbasi, Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, and Latif Khosa, Senate Secretary Raja Mohammad Amin as well as the Algerian ambassador to Pakistan were present in the lunch.
