Violent protestors threw stones on a fast food restaurant and a private bank and damaged a traffic signal against frequent power failures on Korangi Road, Akhtar Colony here on Wednesday. Police resorted to firing in the air and released tear gas to disperse the mob.
Power riots have again erupted in different parts of the city. Director Operations, KESC, told a private TV channel that DHA workers cut the electric cables of KESC due to this power supply to Akhter Colony, Kashmir Colony and Manzoor Colony was suspended.
He said KESC workers have not yet been able to start the repair work because people are throwing stones on them. Director Operations told that due to this situation it might take eight hours to rectify the fault.
He further told that we have contacted with police to control the situation. The reports of violence have also been received from Sharae Faisal, Site area, Metroville and Lyari.
In Lyari people thrown stones and chanted slogans against the govt. Due to protest rallies traffic flow remained interrupted at Sharae Faisal and adjacent. Govt has assured a number of times that load shedding duration will be cut but in vain. The electricity breakdown is going on as usual in the city.
