Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Pakistan organised a roundtable "Putting Small Business First" at a hotel here on Friday. The aim of the roundtable was to discuss and formulate an opinion on the Exposure Draft of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).
Qasim Nawaz, Director SME & Microfinance, State Bank of Pakistan, was the chief guest, while Raees Gaya, Head of Jaffer Consulting, chaired the roundtable. Dr Afra Sajjad, Head of Policy Development, ACCA Pakistan, Kamran Elahi, Chairman, Banking and Insurance Sub-Committee, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khurram M. Qamar, Advocate, Qamar-ul-lslam & Co, Richard Martin, Head of Financial Reporting of ACCA and Robin Jarvis, Head of Small Businesses of ACCA addressed on the occasion.
Dr Afra Sajjad said the growth and development of SMEs was essential for the economic uplift of Pakistan. Reliable and relevant accounting reports facilitate access of finance to SMEs as well as enable owners and mangers to form an opinion on the financial position and performance of the SMEs.
The roundtable by ACCA, Pakistan aims at providing an opportunity to important stakeholders to express an opinion on the Exposure Draft of IFRS for SMEs, which shall be communicated to the IASB."-PR
