CAA clarifies

Published June 17, 2007 Updated June 17, 2007 12:00am

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Lahore on Saturday clarified that all the transfers of its officials are made from CAA headquarters in Karachi and reports alleging Regional Director (RD) North Pervez Nawaz Khan to get someone transferred from Lahore are baseless.
A CAA spokesman here on Saturday said that in the CAA headquarters, every section has its own director, and is a competent authority for transfers within his section. He said all 22 airport RDs of Punjab and NWFP work under the RD North, but their transfers are also made from the headquarters.
He further said that the appointment of Rana Ijaz, ex-general secretary, had been made in the RD office by the CAA headquarters and now he is doing his job properly. He further said CAA had not allotted any piece of land or plot to any company or individual, as has been reported in the press. However, on request of ASF, CAA was constructing a shed at the Lahore Airport so that the staff could protect themselves from the scorching heat.
Moreover, the RD North has also not awarded any contract of parking or signboard to anyone in Islamabad. Such contracts are given with the approval of commercial branch of the CAA headquarters, he pointed out. He also asked the ex-employee of CAA, Chaudhry Snaullah, who had been expelled from CAA service some time back, to prove such allegations, otherwise the Authority would take legal action against him.
