The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) has planned to capture new markets especially in Europe and Africa and to re-capture the Middle East markets for Pakistani rice.
In this regard, a 8-member Reap delegation is scheduled to leave for Poland on early Sunday morning to promote Pakistani rice in this emerging market of Eastern Europe.
Wajid M Paracha, member managing committee Reap and convenor of the delegation told Business Recorder that during the visit, they will meet Ambassador of Pakistan to Poland Seema Ilahi Baloch. The delegation will brief the ambassador about the rice trade and will seek her guidance and co-operation to promote Pakistani rice in this destination.
He said that Commercial Secretary of Pakistan's Embassy in Poland Dr Fareed Qureshi had lined-up their meetings with the rice importers of Poland. In these meetings they will discuss all possibilities and issues regarding rice trade with them on Monday and Tuesday.
The delegation will also visit the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and Industry to meet its members and leading traders. He pointed out that presently Pakistan's rice exports to this East-European country are thin because Poland imports rice through its neighbouring countries. "We want to promote Pakistani rice in this emerging market and want to start direct rice trade with Poland", he added.
"During the 4-day visit, we will hold various meetings with rice traders, members of chambers and government officials to promote our rice in this destination", Wajid Paracha said.
"We are going to explore new market for Pakistan rice and we are very much optimistic to bring positive results", he added. The delegation comprises of Abdul Aziz Maniya, Chairman REAP; Muhammad Tariq Aziz Vice Chairman; Wajid M. Paracha, member managing committee and convenor of the delegation; Muhammad Zubair Chaudhry; Ashfaq Ghaffar; Naveed Khan Shaikh; Tariq Mahmood and Shaikh Muhammad Aamir.
