KARACHI: Karachi Police has set up a network of monitoring cells including a Central Monitoring Cell and eight control rooms in five districts of the metropolis to control law and order and check incidents of hide snatching on the occasion of Eid-ul-Ahza.
This information was given to Inspector General of Police Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah by Additional IGP Karachi, Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh while briefing him on security arrangements on Eid-ul-Azha, said a statement issued on Tuesday.
Ghulam Shabbir said the Central Monitoring Cell has been set up at the office of Additional IGP Karachi.
The eight control rooms have been established in the offices of DIG East, SSP East, SSP Malir, DIG South, SSP South, DIG West, SSP West and SSP Central, he added.
The Central Monitoring Cell can be contacted on 021-99212663 which will work round the clock.
Other control rooms can also be contacted on their respective numbers which are DIG East: 021-99231426, SSP East: 021-99248006, SSP Malir: 021-35000274, DIG South: 021-99201196-97, SSP South:021- 99206220, DIG West: 021-35469624, SSP West: 021-99263025 and SSP Central : 021-99246157.
All the control rooms would operate round the clock as the officials would perform monitoring duties in three shifts under the supervision of the DSP Operations Karachi with assistance of the Inspectors.
