ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid Friday told the National Assembly that Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) and Environmental Protection Agency of Balochistan are responsible for conducting Environmental Impact Assessment Survey for construction of 300 MW coal fired power plant as yet.
He said that Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) has not started physical action with respect to the coal power plant adding that only initial negotiations have taken place between GDA and a Chinese group.
He said that after 18th amendment it was the responsibility of the provinces regarding environment at their areas.
He said the Prime Minister has allocated Rs 1 billions for Green Pakistan program and all provinces are cooperating in this program.
He said forest cover in Pakistan is very low therefore Green Pakistan program has initiated adding that with the assistance and cooperation of the provinces, plants would be planted.
