BANGKOK: Thailand's central bank will focus on longer-term factors in setting monetary policy, its governor said on Tuesday, adding that price rises as a result of flooding would be temporary.
"In the short term, its's about a jump in prices of food and vegetables because of the supply shock caused by the floods ... and that rise is likely to be temporary," Bank of Thailand Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul told reporters.
"Monetary policy will not look at short-term factors."
Headline inflation rose by less than expected to 4.19 percent in October from 4.03 percent in September and the core rate was little changed at 2.89 percent. .
