The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Lahore, organised a preparatory course for the MRCP Part-1 exam. The MRCP (UK) examination is going to be held in Lahore for the first time in May this year, a spokesman of the hospital said, here on Thursday.
Traditionally, doctors have had to go to the UK to take the exam. Preparatory courses for this exam in the UK are very expensive, particularly when travelling and accommodation costs are included, he added.
With this in view, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre stepped forward to provide effective targeted teaching for the MRCP (UK) Part 1 exam locally for students.
The course would be held in the hospital, with faculty including eminent experts in their respective fields. The physicians attending the course commended the efforts of the faculty and rated the course as very helpful in their preparation. Dr Haroon Hafeez, the Course Director, has confirmed that the hospital will continue to hold this course regularly 3 to 4 weeks before each exam.
He also mentioned that in the near future, courses for the part-II written and clinical sections would also be launched in line with the hospital's vision to be at the forefront of postgraduate medical education.
