Pakistans former captain Imran Khan, has slammed the decision by the Punjab government to hold the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL), at Lahore on Monday.
The cricketer turned politician, while talking to a private news channel was of the view that amidst the ongoing security situation prevailing in the country, the decision to hold the leagues final could prove fatal for Pakistan cricket, if any mishap occurs.
"God forbid, if any blast takes place in Lahore, there will be no cricket in Pakistan in the next 10 years," the PTI chief said.
"This is madness considering the situation here" he said. The PTI chief was pointing towards the new wave of terrorism that has emerged in the country, leaving hundreds dead and injured.
The World Cup winning captain further added that calling in the army for security, would not send a good message internationally.
"In my view, it is a terrible bad idea. We want to hold this match by calling in army. The roads will be blocked and there will be security. This will not send a good message," he said.
Earlier, the government of Punjab decided to hold the PSL finals In Lahore after a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, which included representatives from all provincial and federal security agencies.
