firdouse_11LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Saturday that insulting language by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif against the president is an attack on parliament.

Talking to the media here at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, she said the president was elected by all the provincial assemblies, including Punjab Assembly, unanimously and criticising the office of the president was unconstitutional.

She said the Constitution gave procedure of impeachment, if the opposition had required numbers of votes in the parliament.

She said protests, rallies and sit-ins were beauty of democracy and politics was incomplete without them but the PML-N leadership used dirty language in the protest which was unacceptable.

The federal minister said democracy was damaged whenever political parties collided with each other, adding all parties would be affected, if something happened to democracy.

She alleged the PML-N always protested against democratic powers, adding that it had never organised rallies against any dictator. "PML-N leadership will flee to Jeddah when dictator comes," she added.

Dr Firdous said the PPP was passing through a period of grief and it was "Yazidiat" to hurt someone in such condition, adding that patience was a tradition of "Hussainiyat" and the PPP was facing abuses with patience.

She said it was dangerous that a psychic patient was ruler of the largest province, adding that Nawaz Sharif should get his brother treated.

In response to a question, she said the PPP believed in dialogue and doors of dialogue were opened for everyone, even for the PML-N.
