LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday for ensuring registered stents in the hospitals said implantation of unregistered stents was illegal.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that instead of depending on Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan, the Punjab government would have to introduce its own system and for that purpose, a letter should be dispatched to the federal government and a plan be evolved at the earliest.
He directed hospital authorities to ensure implantation of registered stents at any cost and added that use of unregistered stents was lamentable and illegal.
He said investigation against the companies issued forged letters should be completed at the earliest and nobody could be allowed to play with health of the people. He said it was time to streamline affairs of Health Department and fix all shortcomings.
Provincial Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Advocate General Punjab, Chairman Chief Minister's Inspection Team, Secretaries Health, Law, Information, DG Anti-Corruption and concerned officers were also present on the occasion. While CEO Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan Dr. Aslam participated in the meeting through video link from Islamabad.
