Babar Awan terms rally 'comedy show'

ISLAMABAD: Former federal law minister and senior leader of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Babar Awan on Friday dubbed PML-N rally in Lahore as a 'comedy show' and accused the PML-N leadership of misusing Punjab government's resources for the rally. Reacting to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif's speech at the rally, he condemned, what he said the use of indecent language by Shahbaz Sharif against President Zardari and PPP leadership.

"Life in Punjab remain suspended due to this rally and shops and roads were forced to shut down," said Babar, while addressing a news conference here soon after the PML-N rally.

He said that the rally was action replay of General Musharraf's public meeting of May 12, 2007 in Islamabad.

Babar Awan said that there was no need to take the threats hurled by Chief Minister Punjab at federal government as serious. He rejected the criticism of Shahbaz Sharif on federal government for its perceived mismanagement and corruption. He dubbed Sharif brothers as 'Shar brothers', saying that they would soon flee to Jeddah.

He said that PPP leadership neither beg pardon from any dictator nor fled to Saudi Arabia.
