Fast bowler Junaid Khan has finally returned to International cricket after he was called for the One Day International (ODI) series against Australia as a replacement for Muhammad Irfan.
It was learnt that Irfan would be returning back to Pakistan following the death of his mother on Monday.
"Following Mohammad Irfans return to Pakistan due to his mothers death, the chief selector Inzamam ul Haq after consulting the team management has named fast bowler Junaid Khan as Mohammad Irfans replacement for the five-match ODI series against Australia commencing from January 13, 2017," reads the PCB press release.
Junaid, who last represented Pakistan in 2015, expressed delight for being selected by the management.
"Alhamdulillah my hardwork has paid off overwhelmed for being selected pray for my safe journey and good performance," tweeted Khan.
Despite being a constant performer, Junaid was out of the team following an injury.
However, after being recovered from the injury Khan has remained a top performer in both domestic circuit as well as in recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League, where he finished as the second top bowler of the tournament.
