Actress-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna has received flak on social media for insulting Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in her latest column. Khanna, who is now known for her tongue-and-cheek humour, wrote a matrimonial ad for an Indian newspaper which creates a raging storm on social networking sites.
In her Christmas special column, the Bollywood actress mentioned Salman's bachelorhood. The column listed 10 wackiest classifieds of 2016. One of them was for a bride.
She wrote a classified for Salman Khan that read, "Alliance Wanted for one of Indias oldest but most eligible bachelors: Dashing, non-vegetarian, successful and muscular Khandani boy. Excellent in dance, drama and art. Girl must be pretty, slim and enjoy long drives off the beaten path. Bride must not be very talkative, as groom cannot tolerate any buck buck. Caste no bar. Contact [email protected]".
The sarcasm didn't go down well with Salman Khans fans and they started the war of words on Twitter. Some even threatened Khanna to boycott Akshay Kumar's films. Twinkle remained unaffected by all the hate comments and she hit back at the Twitterati in the best way possible.
She tweeted, "I write social, political satire-will not examine an ant & spare an elephant because I fear getting trampled by the herd #TrollProof #CarryOn".
