Rangers raid offices of Zardari's close aide just before his arrival
KARACHI: Rangers raided three different offices of a close aide of former President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday, detaining suspects and confiscating records hours before the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-chairman returned home after spending 18 months in Dubai in a self-imposeed exile.
The raids were conducted near Hockey Stadium, Metropole and I.I. Chundrigar Road, local media reported.
Rangers first conducted a raid on a office located on I.I Chundrigar Road. Four persons were detained by the paramilitary force, who also reportedly seized documents from the office.
Rangers also raided the office of Anwar Majeed, a close aide of Asif Ali Zardari and an influential figure of the Sindh government, near Hockey Stadium.
The Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman has landed at Karachi's old Jinnah airport, ending his self-imposed exile of 18 months in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital.
According to latest media reports, Zardari arrived in a private jet, which reportedly belongs to a businessman.
PPP leader Rehman Malik was also travelling with Asif Ali Zardai, who was also accompanied by his security guards in the private jet, according to source.
