Turkey quake toll rises to 432: official

ISTANBUL: The death toll from a 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck eastern Turkey rose to 432 Tuesday, according to figures released by the emergency unit in the prime minister's office.

The earlier toll provided by deputy prime minister Besir Atalay was 370.

The earthquake that shook the eastern province of Van, a mainly Kurdish area near the Iranian border, on Sunday also left 1,352 people wounded.
