SEOUL: Visiting French Prime Minister Francois Fillon was to meet his South Korean counterpart Kim Hwang-Sik Friday for talks expected to focus on trade and investment links.
Fillon, the first French prime minister to visit South Korea in 20 years, started his schedule with a visit to the National Cemetery in Seoul.
He and Kim would discuss practical cooperative ties, especially in investment and trade after a free trade agreement between South Korea and the European Union went into force in July, Kim's office said earlier this week.
They would also discuss France's hosting of the Group of 20 summit in Cannes in early November, the office added. South Korea held the event last year.
Fillon was later to speak at a conference organised by the French-Korean chamber of commerce, pay a courtesy call on President Lee Myung-Bak and meet French residents. He leaves for Japan Saturday.
