Federal Railway Minister Ghaus Bakhsh Mahar has said that seat reservation system was being computerised gradually in the country.
Today Multan was connected with Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi by establishing a computerised reservation office.
He was talking to journalists after inauguration of the Reservation office on Tuesday. He said that now passengers of Multan could get return tickets and they would not have to visit the Karachi reservation office.
The minister dispelled these rumours that he was being removed from the Ministry and said that he would stay in the ministry till the blessings of Prime Minister and he was optimistic that even Shaukat Aziz would also induct him in his cabinet.
He said that Shaukat Aziz is a patriotic Pakistani who put the country economy on right track which leads to progress and prosperity, he possesses Pakistani Passport and he is not an US national.
He declined to comment on the removal of Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and said that he was a noble and gentleman who resigned as per party decision for peaceful transfer of power.
When asked why did Railway add Rs 1000 to the salaries of constable while Punjab government had added this amount in the salaries of cops of Punjab Police.
The minister said that Railway could not afford this huge burden while the provincial Police and Railway police are two different entities.
The minister said that we had provided modern equipment and other facilities to Railway police to increase their efficiency and immediate action was being taken on receiving the complaints of corruption.
He said that we did not increase the fare up to 100 km to save more than 50 percent passengers from this increase because majority of the passengers mostly employees, daily wage earners to travel for 20 to 80-kms daily.
