ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan here on Tuesday said that government was determined to ensure smooth supply of all agri-inputs to farmers besides minimizing the plight of farmers across the country.
The minister presided over a meeting and reviewed the status of subsidy on phosphate fertilizer provided to farmers under federal budget 2015-16.
Dealers, members of Federal Board of Revenue and importers attended the meeting.
The minister formulate a sub-committee for further ensuring the availability of subsidized fertilizers to farmers for benefiting them and safeguarding them from exploitation of dealers and middlemen. He also expressed his resolve to strengthen the farmers by enhancing per acre crop output through providing them subsidized fertilizer and addressing the issues relating to the availability of the fertilizers.
The minister welcomed the suggestions of the participants and expressed the resolve for discussing these proposals in next meetings.
Sikandar Bosan stressed upon the provinces for cooperating with the federal government in order to make the scheme beneficial for farmers and implementing it in a uniform manner.
He said that government was determined to ensure smooth provision of all agri-inputs on controlled rates and introduced Kissan Relief Package to enhance per acre crop put to alleviate poverty from the country.
