ISLAMABAD : The Senate was informed Friday that the chain of the utility stores will be expanded to each Union Council of the country to provide essential commodities to the people at affordable rates.
Minister of State for Industries Sardar Bahadar Ahmad Khan Sehar told the House during question hour that more utility outlets will be opened as soon as the Ministry of Finance releases funds for it.
He said that currently five thousand and seven hundred utility outlets are operational across the country.
Responding to a supplementary question he said that laboratories are being set up in each zonal office of utility stores to check the quality of items. One laboratory has already been set up in I-9 Sector of Islamabad.
On behalf of Minister for Production, leader of the House Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company and other organizations working under Pakistan Industrial Corporation are being developed on modern lines in order to bring better products in the market and earn foreign exchange for the country.
