HYDERABAD: Over a dozens of traders associations as well as representatives of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) staged a protest here Wednesday demanding of the Sindh Government to provide policing powers to the Rangers.
While addressing the protesting businessmen, the HCCI's senior Vice President Turab Ali Khwaja said around 70 percent drop in the crimes and terrorism had been witnessed since the Rangers began the security operation.
"Before the operation, the traders and industrialists were beginning to sale their businesses and migrate to the other countries," he observed, crediting the Rangers for restoring law and order and helping restore the investor confidence.
Hyderabad Electronic Dealers Association's president Anwar Kundan warned of increase in the crimes and terrorism if the Rangers were restricted from taking action against the criminals, terrorists and their abettors.
Anjuman Tajran-e-Hyderabad's President Saleem Vohra said the law enforcement agencies had rendered sacrifices for winning the peace in Karachi and rest of Sindh.
"We will not allow those sacrifices to go in vain," he said.
The protesters condemned what they described as allegedly anti-peace measures of the Sindh government.
